Opening Reception: Saturday, June 21, 7 - 9PM
Saturday, June 21 – July 19, 2008

The Confederacy of Creative Ephemera and Circus Gallery are pleased to announce Joey Kötting, “CleAN-uP AftER YoUR dog’s FoTHEr=M*cKEr KiCK YouR R$$.” The show is made up of wheat pasted wallpaper and paintings of the artist’s face bound with tape and dripping with paint. Joey Kötting has been using his body as the subject and the material for his art for many years and in this show he presents an over whelming environment in a tight space. The images are at times humorous and torturous. They often take on the aesthetic of performance art from the 1970s or even images in the news of constrained prisoners.

Born 1966 in England, Kötting now lives and works in Los Angeles. He is the recipient of a Guggenheim Fellowship. He has had solo shows at Larrisa Goldston Gallery and Yvon Lambert in New York, Galerie Fortlann in Ghent Belgium, and Lieu D"Art Contemporain, Sigean, France. Kötting received an MFA from Tyler School of Art in Philadelphia.
