ISSUE IV RELEASE/ EIGHTEEN-THIRTY INAUGURATION
SATURDAY, MAY 26, 2007 7PM

groupworkla originated in a very simple manner--ideas on paper and word-of-mouth.

It began when the collective behind this publication chose a theme and asked individuals to contribute accordingly. They then compiled a limited number of magazines and distributed them around Los Angeles. This was self-expression under a collective effort.

May 26, 2007 marks the release of issue iv, as well as the inauguration of eighteen-thirty. As an extension of groupworkla, eighteen-thirty serves as a common space for visual and performance art, dialogue, and experimentation.

The release celebration will include an improvised musical collaboration by Im Kino, a performance by Los Angeles based artist Dawn Kasper, and a video installation by Bryce Way.

ISSUE IV: a devotion to text by a diverse range of artists, writers, and free-thinkers.

EIGHTEEN-THIRTY: performance, music, and cuisine.

MORE ABOUT THE ARTISTS:

IM KINO consists of two classically-trained musicians who are currently attending Los Angeles County School of the Arts.

DAWN KASPER: "My work investigates a space of thought that is based on emotion- driven rationalization, a system of thought that I've created using my life and my work to formulate a structure. By way of performance art, I've realized a place in my artistic work ethic that houses a need for process, systems and the blurring of art and life."

BRYCE WAY: "My videos are loosely-structured meditations on the felt experience of infancy, the trauma of abusive treatment by an obsessive compulsive parent, and the discovery of the ecstasy of imagination." Bryce is interested in exploring gay psyche, primitive emotions, bodily pleasure and shame, infancy and early childhood.

RYAN AGEE is a Pastry Chef who is currently looking for a place to live because his landlord is selling their house.

--eighteen-thirty is located at the 1830 Offices on Sunset Blvd. in Echo Park. It functions as an experimental performance space, an advocate for accessible and public art, and a gathering place for diverse and inspired minds--
