Circus Gallery is proud to announce Lauren Lavitt’s first Los Angeles solo exhibition “The Wild Flower.” “The Wild Flower’ promises to be one of the most challenging and rewarding shows that Circus Gallery has presented date. Lavitt will be presenting twenty new drawings and paintings as well her video work and photographs. In a month that all the galleries in LA are presenting their season openers “The Wild Flower” is sure to make an impact and is a show not to be missed.

Lavitt mixes a complex mixing of painting, drawing, video and sculpture with themes of flowers, sex, and physical experience of the world around us. In the past few years she has amassed a large and challenging body of work. She has been producing a complex visual language that depends on a very corporeal experience of the world. Her work is not “gotten” immediately. As it slowly unfolds one starts to piece together themes, and shapes like people emerging from a foggy beach. “The Wild Flower” comes from an idea of her youth and coming of age in her parents flower shop in Northridge, California.

Lauren Lavitt has shown her work nationally and internationally. Most recently John Baldessari asked her to show her work at the San Jose Institute of Contemporary Art. She has shown her work at the Museum of Contemporary Art in Rome Italy, Play Gallery Berlin, Video Forms, Clearmon-Ferrand, France, Slam Dance Film Festival in Utah, and in Los Angeles at Anna Helwing Gallery, 4F Gallery, and Fritz Heag’s Sundown Salon.
